HIGHLIGHTS OF AUGUST:

What happened to the wonderful warm Sunshine we have every year.  Summer is almost gone and all I have is a Farmers Tan.  My arms are so dark, that I'm

embarrassed to wear shorts,  I'd scare anyone away. Oh well. I'll just have

to put on Tan in a Bottle.

Dave Rupp and myself have been keeping the calendar filled with some really good events. I figured since summer was here, what a good way to enjoy

outdoor concerts.  So I put a few of them in the calendar, and enjoyed

everyone one of them...by myself, yes all by myself, no tall folks to joined me.

But, the good thing, I've made some really good friends just by coming out to

Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach every Sunday from 5-7 pm. My friends get

there early and save a section.   Maybe I'll see you Sept 5th a Tribute to

Journey will be playing.

You missed the concert of the year.  July 31st at Burton Chase Park in Marina

Del Rey. I saw Moon Doggie, James Darren.  The handsome gentleman

who played in the Gidget Films with Sandra Dee.....He and his ensemble

were dressed in Black & White Suits, his concert was outside.  I arrived at 5:30 pm, it was soooo crowded that I thought I'd never find a spot, but I did, I climbed through the crowd, put down my beach chair, and I was front center, a slight to the left up 3 rows. It could not have been better than that.

Jimmy Darren sang a number of songs. and his famous song Gidget.  He later pointed out who was just sitting about 4 rows up, his friend Frankie Avalon,

one of my favorites.  Frankie joined Jimmy in a few songs. Frankie sang a few of his hits from movie Grease,  "Beauty School Dropout" & “Venus” what a fantastic voice. He and Jimmy sang a few duets together.  Next, another

famous person was introduced from the audience, and he was the star in West Side Story..  The concert lasted until 8:30 pm.  What a concert.....

You should have been there.

You missed a fantastic evening under the stars listening to terrific music.
